Omega VRT350 vs. Champion Juicer Review

Finding the best masticating juicer with large chute is a pretty nice goal for people who want their juice fresh, healthy, and fast. Many juicers, including some models of slow juicers, usually have narrow or smaller feeder chutes. Juicing enthusiasts from all walks of life appreciate masticating juicers with large feeder tubes. I think it’s a feature that will definitely help save preparation time.

I have personally tried masticating juicer models that have slim/smaller feeder chutes and ones that have larger/wider chutes. I have found that the larger chutes cut down a huge amount of time for preparation since I no longer have to cut my fruits into smaller pieces. I can grab a whole fruit and toss it in with no worries.

There are a couple of masticating juicers that I have tried that fits the said description nicely. They are the Champion Commercial Juicer and the Omega VRT350 Heavy Duty Dual-Stage Vertical Single Auger Low Speed Juicer. I can recommend both of these juicers as the best masticating juicer with large chute, but I have to choose only one. So, I would prefer to put down a couple of masticating juicer reviews and tell you what I like about each of these two models.

You wouldn’t believe the size of the chute on this Champion Juicer. At almost 2 inches in diameter, at first I tried a single average size carrot. I obviously noticed there was still room for more so I grabbed a couple more carrots of almost the same size. Well, one was slightly bigger but all three of them went right in easily. Now that is what you call a really large feeder tube/chute.

• Well Built, Good Design

I particularly like the unassuming design of this juicer. It complements my other countertop appliances. It’s a bit bulky though considering the small space I have to work with at home but it still looked good with the rest of the stuff I already have. Clean up wasn’t an issue since I was able to take the thing apart in a minute and the parts are all dishwasher safe.

There are plenty of reasons why I love the Omega VRT350. At the very top of the list of things I like about it is the fact that this Omega juicer is outfitted with a vertical cylinder. This is a significant improvement to the previous Omega masticating juicer models I have tried. They made the feeder chute on the VRT350 significantly bigger. Note that it isn’t as big as the feeder cylinder on the Breville 800JEXL.

• Easy Clean-up

I think the self-cleaning feature of the Omega VRT350 is quite a gem. This feature keeps the filter clog-free. I can go from one fruit to the other without having any down times due to cleaning.

Best Masticating Juicer with Large Chute: Final Verdict

Remember that I love both of these models. I like the Omega VRT350 for all the great features it has. But I just have to say I think the bigger feeder tube on the Champion Juicer wins it for this category. The extra-large chute makes things easier and a lot faster. That is my bet for best masticating juicer with large chute.

It has been about quite a while now since I started a healthier diet.  The need to lose weight and be healthy all together, made me decide to go on a veggie/fruit shake diet.  I acquired the Omega Vrt 350 Juicer at the beginning of my journey and recently purchased the Kuvings NS 750 Juicer.  Both are quality juicers, but there are differences; good and bad.  We’ll call this review Kuvings NS 750 vs. Omega Vrt 350 Juicer.

The Kuvings NS 750 silent juicer is one of the few upright juicers on the market today.  What is unique about this juicer is that unlike most masticating juicers, it does not use the crushing method when extracting juice.  The Kuvings NS 750 presses or masticates the produce.  Together its powerful motor the Kuvings juicer forms a better way to extract juice from all sorts of fruits and vegetables.  I must admit, this is my all-time favorite juicer to make wheatgrass, orange, and beet juice.

The Omega Vrt 350 is a bit pricier than the Kuvings 750, but it is designed with an appealing style.  The Kuvings 750 uses the press and speed technique, while the Omega 350 chews and grinds like all other masticating juicers.  While the Omega Vrt 350 doesn’t produce juice as healthier as the Kuvings NS 750, it does a great job of producing a juice with a sleek texture.

Final Verdict

The main reason why I chose to get the Kuvings NS 750 Juicer was because I wanted to give my family more nutritious juices.  I am not the only one taking on the new healthy diet habit; my family has slowly joined me in the journey.  Now my whole family enjoys the great flavor and energy produced by drinking veggie/fruit juices. Although the Jack Lalanne juicer does not stand out in appearance, it is definitely quick in providing you with a healthy drink.

It is also easy to clean, and is even safe to use in the dishwasher. The large opening allows you to introduce bigger fruits or vegetables into the machine. Although the Jack Lelanne Juicer is fast, the powerful motor allows the machine to be practically noise free.

Omega J8006 vs. Jack Lalanne Juicer – Final Verdict

The Omega J8006 is slower than the Jack Lalanne Juicer, but gives you a healthier final product. Unlike the Omega J8006, the Jack Lalanne Juicer saves you time because it is high-speed. You will also reduce how much you need to cut thanks to the wide chute of the Jack Lalane Juicer.

While both the Jack Lalanne Juicer and Omega J8006 are easy to clean, the Jack Lalanne Juicer is messier when in use. Also, because the Jack Lalanne is made of plastic, it is possible that the durability time is lower than that of the Omega J8006.

If you are looking for a simple but quick juice maker that you can throw in your dishwasher, then you are better off with the Jack Lalanne Juicer.

If you are more into natural foods, good quality, and a nice appearance, the Omega J8006 is best for you.

Well, as promised here is the continuation of my things-to-consider-when-buying-a-juicer guide. If you directly got here via Google and you want to check out part 1, here’s the link: Juicer Buying Guide for Dummies – Part 1.

So what are the next top 3 considerations when buying a Juicer?

Excellent Customer Service

When eyeing a particular juicer, make sure that the manufacturers and or dealers offer a solid track record of positive customer service. This is especially important when you are planning to buy your juicer from an online store.

You’d want to take particular notice of the company’s policy with regard to unit or part replacements and repairs. It’d also be convenient to know if they had an authorized service center near you as you don’t wanna wait a week or two just to get your chute feeder replaced.

Also, take note of how you can contact their customer service representative. Do they have a 24-hr customer hotline? A good masticating juicer manufacturer or dealer should have a 1-800 number or an online chat service you can call on in case something’s terribly wrong with your juicer.

Credible Negative Reviews

This may sound a bit peculiar but you should be looking at negative reviews about the particular juicer you are researching on. You’d want to know what other people complaint about a particular juice extractor machine by reading negative reviews about it. If the juicer has been around the market for a while, you are bound to find not-so-nice reviews against it (which is a good sign because it means people are actually buying and using the product).

Read the most negative review available. Reading them will also help you identify the things to watch out for on other juicers. Then if you think that you can live with the things they are complaining about the juicer then that should help you decide whether that juicer is for you or not.

Right Price

This should be on the last of your list of things to consider. Nonetheless, since price still is a big purchase factor because you should know whether you’re buying a good juicer for your money’s worth or are you being ripped off.

The general rule is that you shouldn’t pay above $250 for a centrifugal juicer. Masticating juicers on the other hand are naturally expensive and should be at the $300-$500 range. NEVER (can’t stress that enough) buy a juicer above $600 unless it is a Super Angel or a Norwalk.

Again, the 3 top things to consider are: Good Customer Service, Credible Negative Reviews and lastly Reasonable Price (preferably in order of importance).  When you take these tips of mine, chances are you are not going to have a hard time going through the buying process. And believe me you’ll be sparing yourself from a lot of headaches many months (or years) after you make your first glass of fresh homemade juice.

3 Things To Consider When Buying a Juicer

Juicing is the latest craze amongst health buffs nowadays. And I can’t blame you if you’re in it too. Drinking fresh juice is indeed very healthy and goes a long way whether you are trying to lose weight or simply wanted to feel more energized throughout the day.

So you’ve decided to purchase your first juicer so you can already start concocting your very own power juice at the comfort of your own home. But if you’re like me who would like to read a lot of product reviews before finally taking the plastic out, you’ve probably spent hours upon hours researching for the best masticating juicer on the market today.

Heck, I can’t blame you. The wide variety of juicers stores online and offline can be very confusing and knowing which juice extractor is best for your needs ain’t easy to come by. Hence, I’ve created this simple guide on buying the perfect juicer just for you.

When choosing your juicer, here are the top 3 things you need to consider before eventually buying one (hopefully):

Juicer Quality

A stainless steel juice extractor.

You should be picking a juicer that is made of great quality materials. As much as you can go for stainless steel juice extractors as they tend to produce richer and more stable juices with lesser oxidation. However, these kinds of juicers are a bit pricey ($500 above). So if the budget can’t accommodate it, then go for juicers made of GE ULTEM materials instead.

Usually, the length of their given warranty speaks so much about the quality of the juicer. Go for models with a warranty of at least 5 years. 10 years is best if you ask me. Reputable brands such as Omega, Super Angel and Kuvings offer 5-10 years warranty.

Juicing Capability

A lot of people get frustrated when they find out (only too late this time) that the juicer they bought cannot effectively juice leafy greens such as wheat grass or extract oil from peanuts. They failed to realize beforehand that a “super juicer” does not exist. They just assumed that the extractor they bought can juice everything they push down the chute. HUGE mistake.

When buying a juicer, you should determine what kinds of produce you will be mainly juicing. Extracting juice from wheat grass is a totally different story than juicing carrots. If you are looking at juicing leafy greens more, it’s advised to go for masticating juicers with twin auger/gear impeller systems. If you see yourself extruding pasta or making tofu, then it’s wise to go for slow juicers with an automatic ejection mechanism.

Juice Yield and Quality

For me juice yield is everything. Not only does the amount of juice extracted matters but also the quality of the juice is very important. Masticating juicers are recommended if you want to extract the most amounts and the best quality juice from your produce. Because masticating juicers operate at a slower rpm (revolutions per minute), there is lesser heat build-up during the juicing process thereby reducing oxidation to a minimum.

So there you have it: Quality, Capability and Juice Yield/Quality. These are the top 3 considerations that I highly recommend you should take in mind when buying a juicer. There are other things to remember too. But that will have to be on my Juicer Buying Guide for Dummies Part 2.

The Kuvings Silent Masticating Juicer is a very versatile juicer. From our tests, we determined that it can easily extract juice from hard vegetables such as carrots and even leafy greens such as wheatgrass.

One of the most unique feature with this juicer that makes it stand above the rest is that it operates far quieter when compared with fast juicers. However, when compared to slow juicers such as the Omega Vert 350, the Kuvings Silent juicers sounds about the same. The manufacturer says they measured its sound output at 40-50db. But heck, there’s no way we can verify this without a decibel meter.
